Chronic oily scalp and oily hair are most often the result of over-active sebaceous glands. Combined with dirt, bacteria accumulation and hair product build-up, oily scalp can lead to itchiness, flaking, and in some cases, scalp psoriasis or dermatitis. Sebaceous glands are co-located and found with follicle pores. Their function is to produce and secrete hair oil (sebum) for the follicle shaft, root, and cuticle. Hair oil coats the shaft and provides nourishment and flexibility. It can also provide shine and control if your hair is dry or dull. If your glands are over-active, excess oil can be produced and can accumulate on the scalp, hair and can clog follicle pores. Excess oil can trap dirt and combine with yeast to create bacteria, irritation and inflammation.

Many of our customers contact us for what is the best shampoo for oily scalp. Our experience and feedback from customers leads us to recommend shampoo formulated specifically for oil scalp and hair – specifically products that include either Zinc PCA or Peppermint, Spearmint, or Menthol in their formulations. Zinc PCA helps regulate the sebaceous glands and slows oil production. Used in shampoos (and some conditioners), Zinc PCA is highly effective both for deep cleaning – as in a “clarifying” shampoo – and for washing away oil, dirt and grease found on the scalp or in the hair. Zinc PCA also has other benefits related to hair loss. DHT is the leading cause of hair loss in men. DHT is created by a conversion of enzymes and restricts blood flow, nutrients and growth of new hair. Zinc PCA helps block this conversion and is a frequent active ingredient in hair loss shampoos.

An effective alternative to Zinc PCA is Menthol. Menthol is derived form the “mints” – Peppermint and Spearmint, in particular. Menthol has many of the same properties of Zinc PCA with several added benefits. One, it smells great – refreshing and stimulating. Not a bad trait for a shampoo used first thing in the morning. Secondly, it makes your scalp “feel” clean. As popular advertising goes “the tingle tells you its working”. The best shampoos for oily scalp also have other ingredients we recommend. Sodium Laureth Sulfate as a surfactant. Surfactants produce the foaming action. Sodium Laureth Sulfate is gentle on the scalp and help reduce inflammation, itching and the risk of allergies. Jojoba Oil is also helpful. Jojoba Oil mimics sebum yet is super-effective for deep cleaning and irrigating follicle pores of trapped dirt and oil.

Many people choose to have dreadlocks as it makes them cool, others keep them due to their spiritual beliefs and yet others may keep them for their political views. Growing this style requires a lot of patience as it usually takes time for dreads to eventually mature. The below steps will help show you ways in which you can create dreadlocks hair successfully. Remember curly or very kinky one provides a good ambiance for the dreads. Thus if yours lacks volume, is the straight kind or wavy type, the first requirement is that you get yourself a home perm with very thin rods. With the perm the texture that is much needed will have been created.

Before starting the process, remember to take a break of about a week to ten days from using conditioner. On the day you decide to make the dreads, rinse it with a solution mixture of a tablespoon of vinegar with one quart water. The solution is useful in eliminating any residue or buildup which may hamper the process. Commencing with dry one, take about one inch square of it at the roots and firmly twist it. Using clips or rubber band try to hold back the rest for you to effectively work on one piece at a time. Comb back the part you have twisted by starting at the root and going to the ends and then back again to the scalp.

After combing, apply a styling wax for dreads to each segment and then twist it again. The wax helps to shape your dreads and keep the lock twisted. At the end of each dread, put a rubber band while leaving some thrust out as this helps to maintain the twist and will end up giving a rounded end to your dreads. Work at finishing up the twisting process over your whole head. If you are limited for time or have a busy schedule, consider twisting a few segments a day. For best looking dreads especially at the back of your head, it is advisable that you get assistance from your friends and have them do it for you.

Many women choose to have laser hair removal on their face. Many are unhappy with the unwanted hair and the choices for removal in that area aren’t always ideal. Shaving is completely out of the question, waxing can be painful, and bleach just covers up the problem, but doesn’t solve it. While the treatment is considered slightly painful, it is worth the long term results that are achieved. After a treatment, this area will be red and you may not want to go out in public immediately following the procedure. However, the lack of anxiety when it comes to other people noticing hairs growing there is comforting. Because your face is what everyone sees, it can be a real confidence booster to feel like this area is taken care of.

Both the underarms and arms themselves are a popular choice for laser hair removal. Shaving underarms can be uncomfortable and not always as successful as you may have hoped. It needs to be done frequently and because of the sensitivity of the skin, it is a common place for razor burn and unsightly bumps. Much like the face, it may be a little painful at the initial treatment, but the results are well worth it. Bikini Line can be an incredibly sensitive area of skin. While there are a few options available, laser hair removal may be the best. Waxing works, but doesn’t last long. Shaving lasts even less time, can be difficult to get done correctly, and many times causes bumps and ingrown hairs. This is by far of of the least convenient areas for a woman to take care of on her own.

When you have decided where you want to have the treatment done, be sure to schedule an appointment to find out more information. In addition to the cost and how the procedure is going to work, you want to know what you need to do to prepare and what will happen when it is completed. It helps to have the most information possible in advance. No matter what area of the body that you are worried about, consider laser hair removal. The upfront cost is considerably more than going to the store to pick up a razor or wax strips, because of the amount of time that it lasts, the lack of side effects, and the way that you will look and feel after, it is worth the money. Also, think about tallying up all of the money that you would have spent on similar products and imagine not making those purchases.

Most people think long-haired girls look more glamorous and gorgeous than short-haired girls. There is not definite reason behind this but it has been this way for a long time. Contrary to what most people think, short-haired girls can also look great with their hairstyle. Some can even look more gorgeous than their long-haired counterparts. Looking good depends on how you handle the art of managing and creating different styles for your short locks. Here are some tips you can follow.

If your hair is thin, it is best if you create layers to it. This would compliment your face as it adds volume to your hair. If your face is square-shaped, the style that lets your hair fall on the side of your ears is the one that suits you. With this hair length and style, you will be able to draw attention away from your sharp facial features, giving you a softer look. Curls and crimp also look good on short hair. You can experiment on different curl sizes. If you find your hairstyle boring, you can try experimenting with highlights and color. Not only will this make you look hip, funky and fashionable, it will also give your hair an illusion of volume from your highlights. Make sure to choose hair color and highlights that complement each other.

Aside from these tips, one important thing you always have to remember is to keep your hair as healthy as possible. Avoid putting too much chemicals on your hair or frequently using hair implements like curling iron and blow dryer. Let your hair breathe and learn how to take good care of it properly. Styling your hair is not bad for as long as it is done properly. Asking your hairstylist about safe hair care treatments would be a good idea if you are not sure of what to do with your hair.

More people are choosing to dreadlock their hair. It is a low maintenance hairstyle as well as a statement. Dreadlocks create a certain image. If you want to keep them looking nice then it is important that you understand the best methods for maintaining dreadlocks. It doesn’t involve much effort to keep them in good condition.

First of all it is important to continue to wash you hair. Just because you have dreads doesn’t mean you should stop cleaning your hair. If you wash your dreads at least once every week it will stop any nasty smells developing. It is best to use a shampoo that is natural and doesn’t leave any soapy deposits behind as otherwise the residue can loosen the dreads. You may notice that over time some dreads begin to grow out. This is because the new hair next to the roots is not dreaded. To fix this problem you should rub and twist these new lengths of hair every couple of weeks. If you place the un-dreaded hair in between your hands and rub gently until the strands start to knot you will have much tighter dreads.

Many people choose to use wax to maintain their dreads. This also helps to give the hair some nutrients. There are various types of waxes that you can buy, it may be best to choose a product that has been specially designed for maintaining dreads. You can add wax to your hair around once a month. Only a small quantity needs to be applied to the areas of dreads that are becoming loose. Make sure you squeeze and press the wax into the dread rather than just leaving a big globule of wax stuck to the outside. If you have dark hair then wax deposits may be more visible, to fix this you can blow dry your dreads to melt the wax deep into the locks.

Zinc is a trace mineral that has many important roles in the human body. All of these roles are essential for the growth of thick, healthy hair. Zinc helps the body reproduce cells, absorb vitamins, controlling hormones and the synthesis of proteins. Whilst all of these are obviously important one of the more important ways zinc helps the body is by controlling hormones, most importantly testosterone. By keeping an eye on your testosterone levels zinc is doing its part to not only hold on to your precious hair, but also help you grow more.

So now we all know that zinc is important to stop normal hair loss the next question is how do we get enough zinc in our bodies? The most obvious choice is through our food. Food that is rich in zinc include: shellfish, wheat germ, veal liver, squash seeds and peanuts. Unfortunately their are a few issues when it comes to getting all of your zinc from food. The main issue is that the body only absorbs a small amount of zinc that is present in our foods, between 25-30% in fact. The other is that what you consume the food with affects how much zinc is absorbed. Both calcium and fibre prevent the body absorbing zinc completely. Calcium competes with zinc for consumption whilst zinc and fibre bind together so that your hard earned zinc ends up in the toilet bowl.

With normal consumption of zinc through eating food being hit and miss at best, then getting zinc through supplementation seems to be the obvious choice. Whilst most zinc supplements aren’t primarily considered a thinning hair product they do help against normal hair loss and aid growth. Another option to make sure that your body and hair get all the zinc they need is to take a hair growth supplement that not only contains zinc but also other vitamins for hair loss, such as b6 and biotin. This shouldn’t be difficult as all of the best hair loss treatment products contain a range of vitamins and minerals that will give you luscious, sexy hair.

One of the things that you need to keep in mind with hair loss shampoos is what they do. You should see what type of hair loss they are made to treat, as you will want to find a product that is designed for your type loss of hair. If you do not know, you should not just buy shampoo. Instead you should see your doctor to find out what is causing your loss of hair problem. From there your doctor can tell you whether or not loss of hair shampoos are even a good idea for your type loss of hair. They can even tell you what you can do along with the shampoo to see the best results.

Once you know what the lossage shampoo is supposed to do for you, the next thing you should do is take a good look at the ingredients. It may even be helpful to look online at the different ingredients to see if they really even have any bearing on hair loss and your type of hair loss at that. There are a lot of shampoos on the market for loss of hair that really have little or no ingredients for helping with loss of hair.

Another great thing to consider when looking for a hair shampoo is to look up reviews on different shampoos that you are interested in trying. This will give you a good indication as to whether they actually work or not for treating hair. It is important to keep in mind with this that some people can misuse these products, which may be the cause for some bad reviews, while some great reviews may have been planted by the manufacturer of the shampoo. Therefore, it is very important to weigh the good with the bad. It is also important to see if there are any side effects that the shampoo may have. Ones that say they may cause skin irritation are products you may want to stay away from as they could possibly make your loss of hair problems worse.

It is very important to do your homework before buying a loss shampoo or even any hair loss treatment for that matter. This is because there are many companies out there that are trying to scam people and rip them off. Even if they are not a complete scam, they offer very little results. In fact for many of these, you may find that you can create an effective hair loss shampoo for just the same or less money than what they are selling their product for.

Have you been thinking about getting dreadlocks but thought it took months to achieve the look? The thought of having to wait months for the hair to lock a big turnoff for some who desire dreads. After all, how will you style your hair while the hair is locking? Learn how to get instant dreadlocks that you can do yourself. The good news is you can create instant dreadlocks without the wait, without the hassle, and without having your hair a mess until your hair actually locks up. Is this really possible? Of course it is. Learn how you can do it yourself with the right tools and a little time.

There are five basic ways to dread your hair: Backcombing method, Twist and rip method, Gel and wax method, Natural method and Interlocking or latch hook method. You start with one piece of hair at a time using a special latch hook tool. The tool resembles a crochet needle. The method is actually braiding your hair backwards from the tip to the root. You can do this by hand until you reach the root, at which point you will need the latch hook to get close to the scalp and tighten the hair.

The process is long and in the beginning you may be tempted to give up, but the end result is an instant head of dreadlocks that look fabulous. If you don’t want to do this yourself, there are locticians who specialize in the latch hook method who can do all the work for you. Let me warn you that the cost is pricey ($500-$1,000) but you can achieve the look that it takes many 6-12 months to achieve.

Once your locks are complete, you can show your new look off to your friends who will wonder how in the world you turned your roller wrap or braids into dreadlocks overnight. Want more hair care and styling tips, visit Tracks & Tresses for discounted wigs and hair as well as information on how to keep your hair healthy and beautiful.

It is not difficult to select the right shampoo for your hair. All you need to do is to read the label and know the type of hair you have. Most often that not the shampoo you pick will suit your hair. Beware of any chemicals or ingredients to which your scalp maybe allergic to. For instance there are a few people who are allergic to aloe and aloe products, so a shampoo that includes aloe, even though it is a natural ingredient will cause serious problems.

Shampoo has a relatively simple task to perform, on the face of it. It’s just supposed to keep your hair clean, right? But what actually goes on while you’re lathering is a complicated dance between cleanliness and dryness. The goal of your shampoo is to strip away enough of the dirt, grease, grime and general environmental gunk that builds up on your hair throughout the day, without stripping away the moisture that keeps it healthy. The people at the hair care companies do a good job at producing a variety of hair products to suit everyone’s hair type, but none of that will make your hair more beautiful if you aren’t paying attention to what kind of hair you have.

Type matters. Be honest with yourself when you’re shopping for your shampoo. If you have oily hair, picking up a bottle meant for normal or dry hair isn’t going to do you any favors, and the same goes for any other type. Curly and dry hair need a need the extra moisture that creamy shampoo gives you, while limp oroily hair need the gentle cleansing of a clear shampoo to keep them light. Purchase a shampoo in your preferred brand that is matched to your hair type to get the best results. But a shampoo’s duties don’t stop at the hair. Your shampoo is responsible for your scalps health as well.

For many people, just a good scalp scrub accompanying your shampoo lathering is enough to keep the skin healthy. However, if you suffer from dandruff, it’s best to use a shampoo that contains fungicides to help fight off the flakes. Switching to a dandruff shampoo will help you get rid of your current dandruff troubles, and continued regular use will make sure your scalp won’t be dusting your black clothing with a light snow. For more intense cases, you may need to switch to a shampoo with coal tar-if sounds funny and smells a little how it sounds, but this is one of those old-time remedies that really works, and you can find it almost anywhere you’d do your normal shampoo shopping.
